Fund Reaches Milestone, Announces 2018 Grant Availability

Since its inception in 2003 the Tom Little Memorial Fund has had many donors and a lot of support for its fundraisers. With these donations the TRLMF has been able to invest the funds, give over $40,000 out in scholarships and grants, and establish a basic fund of $100,000 which will enable the organization to operate for generations to come.
While maintaining the basic fund at $100,000, TRLMF will make 100% of earnings from that fund and residual funds from previous years available for grants. Current year contributions will be included at the end of each fiscal year. This will put donations to work in the community rather than accumulating in a bank account.
The Trustees of the TRLMF will use a grant application process and a Grants Committee to determine which projects will be funded by TRLMF. It is their goal to have these grants produce positive community benefits and to enable everyone to be involved in helping to improve the Newcomerstown community.
“We are excited to have reached this point. And want everyone to know that there is no such thing as a “too small donation”. By rolling all our donations together we can make our community better. We also can’t wait to see what ideas our grant applicants have for helping achieve more. ” said Jill Little, President of TRLMF

Alumni Donations

Alumni give to Thomas R. Little Community Fund

Last month the TRLCF received two donations from alumni that no longer live in the area but who still keep tabs on our community and what is happening here. The first donation was a $1000 donation from a couple from the class of 1961. And the second, a $500 donation, was from two previous TRLMF scholarship winners who are now actively involved in their careers and wanted to “pay it forward”. “This is not the first time either one of these groups of alumni have given to their hometown. And I doubt that it is the last. ” said Jill Little, President of Thomas R. Little Memorial Fund

Other types of giving have included memorials, where family and friends gave in memory of a loved one. It is also possible to honor the life and work of someone who has meant a lot to you while that person is still alive. Or even honor an achievement such as becoming an Eagle Scout or being accepted to medical school.

501(c)3 charities like TRLMF have also been helped by bequests from wills or trusts and by being made the beneficiary of a life insurance policies. If this is a way you would like to help the Fund and fulfill your desire to help your community, TRLMF recommends speaking to an attorney or your financial advisor.
